I just finished filling out my absentee ballot. I voted on 54 items (and abstained on one, since I can't stand Maxine Waters, and the only opposition was an American Independent and a Libertarian).
That makes FIFTY-FIVE choices for me to make, from billion-dollar bonds, to abortion rights, to judges, to governor.
I work for the City of Los Angeles and have a masters in public policy and administration, and even I feel overwhelmed and not as informed as I should be. Democracy in California is out of control!
This weekend, I watched all six Star Wars movies, in narrative order. When you see them all together like that, the story really carries forward well. My rankings for the movies:
Best
1. Empire Strikes Back (V) - "I am your father!"
2. A New Hope (IV) - The original.
3. Revenge of the Sith (III) - Very good at making even the Jedi look a shade of gray.
4. Attack of the Clones (II) - Christopher Lee rules.
5. Return of the Jedi (VI) - Ewoks? Freakin' Ewoks?
6. Phantom Menace (I) - Too much Jar Jar and "Golly Gee"-ing from Anakin.
Worst
I'm 28 today! Thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate this past weekend.
Farewell, Buck O'Neil. You taught us about the Negro Leagues, and helped us remember a part of our past that should never be forgotten. Just as important, you were a class act all the while, always speaking with grace and joy, and never with bitterness.
This article about Harvard's general education requirements is pretty much a shorter version of what I wrote for my master's thesis. Hmmm... I should see if it's been checked out of the Sac State library!
It occured to me, though, to post my thesis, just because. So here it is:
